The fire was reported just before 4:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Newhouse Branch Road north of Charleston. Angelyn Lancaster of Nitro was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband. Nitro Police was dispatched to the 1200 block of of West 12th St in Nitro around 11:30 p.m. on July 21, 2017. Upon arrival, they found Linwood Lancaster with a stab wound to the abdomen. Lancaster stated he was walking near the boat ramp in the 100 block of Main Avenue in Nitro when he was stabbed.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Marshall University President Jerome Gilbert has received a four-year contract extension.  The university's Board of Governors unanimously approved the extension Wednesday.  Gilbert took office in January 2016. His original contract was scheduled to expire in early 2018. His new contract will end in July 2022. The financial terms of Gilbert's contract will remain the same. He earns an annual salary of $430,000.

Coal exports on the rise

The federal government is seeing an uptick in coal exports. The numbers for the first quarter of this year were 58 percent higher than in the same quarter last year.  The U.S energy information administration expects growth to slow in the coming months.  They see total 2017 exports forecast at 19 percent higher than last year.

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) - Fire crews are on the scene of a house fire in Kanawha County Wednesday evening. The fire was reported on the 1000 block of Aspen Road off of South Park Road just before 10 p.m. Dispatchers say the fire has fully-engulfed the house.
