Marshall hosts robotics camp for kids

Posted: Updated:

Some area kids are spending part of their summer in the classroom.

The June Harless Center at Marshall University is hosting a robotics and engineering camp this week at the Huntington campus.

Kids will be using recyclable materials to build robots.

The camp which is for second through fifth graders is designed to expose the kids to a variety of potential career fields.

"We just really want kids to learn about robotics and engineering and to know that they can at an early age be a part of this and to think about engineering as a career and to look at science and technology and math as an option for when they become an adult," said Holly Moore, chief officer of professional development at the June Harless Center.

The camp will conclude Thursday with a showcase of their robots.
