2 charged in St. Albans meth bust

A call about a fire in St. Albans turned into a meth bust investigation on Tuesday.

The St. Albans Fire Department got called out to a house fire in the 400 block of Washington Street shortly before noon, according to a news release from the St. Albans Police Department. Once crews arrived, they said they found items that lead them to believe that the house included a working meth lab.

The fire department called in the St. Albans Police Department along with members of the Metro Drug Unit in Kanawha County. When they arrived, they said they seized several items consistent with a meth lab.

Joseph Miller, 38, and Sherry Burdette, 40, both from St. Albans were charged with Operating a Clandestine Drug Lab.

Children were inside the home, according to police, and additional charges may be filed as a result. The investigation continues

Meanwhile, the house has been condemned by the St. Albans Building Official's Office.
