Ask any kid and they will probably be able to recite the rhyme explaining the story behind Columbus Day.
Many offices give employees the day off in recognition of the day.
While some people say it isn't that big of a deal others say they are offended that Columbus Day is marked as a holiday.
The issue stirred up some controversy Monday on social media.
"We need to just balance it and take into account everything that we have learned," said parent Shonda Harris.
But Scott Hawkins says he finds the day offensive.
"If we are going to celebrate something we need to celebrate something that we actually did," Hawkins said. "Give Native Americans a holiday."
