Gestamp officials will be in the Kanawha Valley Oct. 15 to cut the ribbon and dedicate a new plant in South Charleston.

Company officials as well as state, county and local leaders are expected to attend the late morning ceremony.

Gestamp, an international group dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of metal components and structural systems for the automotive industry, announced in April it will make a $100 million investment in the South Charleston facility, bringing 700 new jobs with it.

At the time of the announcement, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin said the investment was a collaborative effort among Gestamp, Park Corp., the City of South Charleston, the Kanawha County Commission and the state of West Virginia.

The South Charleston site is owned by Park Corp., and contains more than 1 million square feet under one roof that spans 30 acres at the stamping facility.

Gestamp is a supplier to clients such as Volkswagon, Daimler, General Motors Corp., Ford, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, Porsche, Volvo, Hyundai and Toyota.
