Woman robbed in Kanawha City; police looking for suspect
According to police, a woman in Kanawha City was attacked and robbed Monday night.
The robbery happened in the 4100-block of MacCorkle Avenue Southeast.
The woman, 22, told police that she was walking to the CVS Pharmacy on MacCorkle Avenue when she was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette.
When she said that she didn't have one, the man attacked her.
The woman told police the man punched her in the right eye and knocked her to the ground. Police say the man then struck the victim repeatedly.
According to police the man then grabbed the victims purse and ran east down an alley.
The woman was taken to CAMC General for a laceration near her eye, swelling and bruising.
The suspect is described as a man with a dirty appearance in his mid to late 30s, weighing about 150 pounds and standing about 5 foot 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a light green shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball cap.
