Columbus' replica ships to dock in Huntington on Tuesday, Nov. 13
Organizers announced a new arrival date and time for the Pinta and the Nina replicas of Columbus' ships to arrive in Huntington. They will now dock in Huntington on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m.
Their departure from Charleston and arrival in Huntington was delayed due to Superstorm Sandy.
The ships will be docked at the Huntington Yacht Club at Harris Riverfront Park, until their departure in the early morning on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
The Nina was built completely by hand and without the use of power tools. The Pinta was recently built in Brazil to accompany the Nina on her travels. She is a larger version of the archetypal caravel. Both ships tour together as a 'sailing museum' to educate the public.
While in port, the general public is invited to visit the ships for a walk-aboard, self-guided tour. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $6 for students. Children 4 and under are free.
The ships will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 5p.m. No reservations are necessary.
Teachers or organizations wishing to reschedule or schedule a 30 minute guided tour with a crew member should call 1-787-672-2152 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
