Children in the Charleston area will soon have new places to play.
The city has purchased three new playgrounds.
One of the playgrounds will be near the Roosevelt Community Center.
The city worked with the Charleston Urban Renewal Association and Keys for Healthy Kids to get the property and equipment.
Kids at the center picked out the colors for the new playground.
The playground at Sugar Creek in North Charleston will be replaced.
And there is going to be a playground added at Magic Island.
"We decided there is a need down there because there are really no open playgrounds on the west side for kids," said Lynn Watts with Charleston Parks and Recreation. "There are lots of kids down there and this will bring more people to the island and more physical activities for everyone to participate in."
The equipment will cost around $41,000.
