The ringing of Salvation Army bells is a familiar sound this time of year. But in Logan County not as many people are donating.
The Salvation Army there is $45 thousand short of their fundraising goal.
As a result they are struggling this year with efforts to provide holiday help.
They are using a building near the post office in Logan as their distribution center for toys and food baskets.
But there is a problem.
"Right now inside we don't have electricity," explained Salvation Army LT. Ryan Vincent. "Honestly when we sat down and talked about it, we couldn't afford to pay the down payment for the installation of the electricity and justify the expense."
Because their funds are so depleted the group says they do not have enough money to buy things like bottled water should they be called on to help with an emergency.
They are hoping some donors will come through soon.
