Police are searching for man who, witnesses claim, shot his girlfriend's stepfather.
On Tuesday, Dec. 25 around 3:23 p.m., Logan County deputies were sent to a 911 call on Sun Catcher Street in the Henlawson area on a reported shooting.
When a deputy arrived, he spoke to witnesses and was told that the shooter was Mack Brumfield.
Witnesses told deputies that Brumfield had a fight with his girlfriend earlier in the day. The girlfriend called her aunt for help and her aunt arrived at the home with the girlfriend's stepfather.
According to police, Brumfield and the stepfather began fighting.
A witness inside the house at the time claims that Brumfield pulled out a revolver and shot at the stepfather multiple times. The stepfather then fled from the house.
The girlfriend heard gunshots and grabbed her son and ran out the back door.
She then saw her stepfather come out the back door with multiple gunshot wounds. According to witnesses, the girlfriend then went to a neighbors house and called 911.
Witnesses at the scene say that Brumfield then ran from the house and over a nearby hillside.
Police are searching for Brumfield. He is described as an 18-year-old white male and was last seen wearing a red or maroon hoodie with jeans. Brumfield has a tattoo on his right arm of the word "MACK."
The stepfather was taken to Logan Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later flown to CAMC General in Charleston. He is listed in critical condition. Police were able to talk to the stepfather who confirmed that Brumfield is the man who shot him.
Brumfield is being considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Logan County Sheriff's Dept. at 304-792-8590 or Logan County 911 Center.
