NEW DETAILS: Police arrest suspect in Mason County double shooting

Police have confirmed that 21-year-old Franklin Eaves has been arrested in connection with a double shooting in Pt. Pleasant Tuesday night.

Police said that Eaves is being charged with two counts of malicious wounding.

According to police, Eaves got into a fight and then shot Earl Bonecutter and Michael Stewart.  

Bonecutter and Stewart were both shot in the stomach.  Stewart has been released from the hospital. Bonecutter underwent surgery and is expected to okay.


Witnesses at the scene told 13News that a man became upset during an argument over a girl on Tuesday night. He left the Pleasant Valley Apartments in Pt. Pleasant and returned with a shotgun, according to witnesses.

Witnesses said that the man fired through the back glass door of an apartment in the complex, striking the two men inside. The witnesses said that one of the men was struck in the abdomen with buckshot and the other man was hit in the side.

Both men are being treated at Pleasant Valley Hospital for their injuries.

State Police, the Mason County Sheriff's Department and the Pt. Pleasant Police Department are investigating. They have not confirmed the motive behind the shooting, named a suspect or released the names of the victims.
