Juveniles charged with stealing iPads and laptop computers to sell on Ebay
Athens County Sheriff's deputies are investigating three juveniles who stole iPads and laptop computers from an Athens County education service.
Sheriff's deputies say that they got a call that someone had broken into the Athens Meigs Educational Service at the former site of the Chauncey Elementary School and stolen several laptops and iPads.
While investigating an unrelated case at a residence, a deputy found five laptop computer batteries. When the deputy asked the residents of the house, no one seemed to know where they came from. Upon further search of the home, the deputy found a bag containing the five stolen laptop computers.
Deputies interviewed a 12-year-old boy who confessed that he, along with a 13-year-old boy, and 15-year-old boy, snuck into the facility through an unlocked window and stole the items on Dec. 29 and 31. The 12-year-old was selling the items on Ebay.
The boys were all residents of the Chauncey area.
The three juveniles were charged and released to their parents.
