Fayette County school bus driver faces sexual assault charge
West Virginia State Police made an arrest on Thursday, January 3 in a sexual assault case involving a teenage girl.
Troopers said that Steven Malay faces several counts of sex assault and sex abuse. The crimes allegedly happened in Fayette County where Malay had a job as a school bus driver. "When you have an incident such as this you have to realize that the most important thing is the safety. Not only of our students and our staff members, but our system. And so we will double our efforts to ensure that all of our employees are aware of the professional code of conduct," said Keith Butcher, the superintendent of schools in Fayette County.
According to the criminal complaint, Malay allegedly had sexual encounters with the 14-year-old girl twice at her home in Oak Hill.
Malay was released on bond.
