According to a press release from the Greenup County Sheriff's Department, Deputies and Kentucky State Police discovered an active meth lab at 57 Water Street in Greenup.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. January 4.
Upon entering the residence, police found the lab in the back bedroom of the home.
Police say Nick Kintigos, 43, Melissa Gillum, 26, and two children were in the home at the time.
Kintigos become violent with officers had to be subdued.
Police say during a routine search of Kintigos, a deputy was struck by a needle in the suspect's pocket. That deputy transported himself to an area emergency room for treatment.
The two children in the home were also transported to an area emergency room for decontamination and treatment.
Police say both suspects have been charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Wanton Endangerment.
Kintigos was also charged with menacing, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous narcotic drugs.
The investigation is ongoing.
