Portrait of Jesus in public school: Should it be taken down?
A portrait of Jesus Christ has been hanging above the main stairway at Jackson Middle School since 1947.
Jackson Schools Superintendent, Phil Howard did some research on the painting after the 'Freedom from Religion Foundation,' of Madison, Wisconsin sent him a letter, demanding the portrait be taken down.
Howard tells us the portrait was a gift from a student group to the school in 1947, and says because it was a gift, the district is not violating the constitution, as 'Freedom from Religion' claims in a letter.
Hundreds are expected at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, January 8th, to discuss this.
