The Glen Ferris Inn opened to the public in the 1800's. These days people still go there to eat dinner, celebrate anniversaries and enjoy the scenery.
High water on the Kanawha River is changing the usually tranquil river view into a raging, rushing scene.
The owner of the Glen Ferris Inn, Rebecca Hill, says since she can remember the inn has never flooded. She said Thursday the water was up the highest she has ever witnessed.
Nearby the parking and fishing area at Kanawha Falls was completely under water.
Hill says sometimes visitors staying at the inn will stop by the desk to ask if they should be concerned, when they see the water lapping near the parking lot. She says employees monitor the river day and night to make certain there are no problems.
The inn is open for business as usual. Water levels are projected to start going back down some time Friday.
