An Athens, Ohio man was sentenced Friday, January 18, to 25 years by Judge Algenon L. Marbley, of a U.S. District Court, for producing child pornography.
Jason Hutchinson, 42, is accused of using a webcam to film himself engaged in sexual acts with a 13-year-old, and then distributing the footage out of state.
On August 24 of last year, Hutchinson pleaded guilty to one count of using a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct.
The footage was recorded at Hutchinson's residence in November of 2010 and sent along with similar video to an individual in Massachusetts.
Law enforcement officers in the Boston area discovered the video and alerted law enforcement officials in Ohio.
With the support of Athens County Sheriff's deputies, FBI agents executed a search warrant and arrested Hutchinson in March of 2012. He has been in custody since his arrest.
While in custody, Hutchinson admitted to sexually abusing another young boy in Athens County several years ago and discussing that abuse with the sex offender in Massachusetts to whom he sent the videos.
Judge Marbley cited the prior abuse as part of the basis for the sentence.
Hutchinson was also ordered to be placed under court supervision for the rest of his life after his time in prison.
Hutchinson will also have to register as a sex offender anywhere he lives, works or goes to school.
