Reports of a sexual assault in a well trafficked area of Huntington had students on high alert Wednesday.
"I heard about it and said, 'Oh gosh, this is real. This is really close to home,'" recalled Marshall student Blair Lawrence.
Lawrence is one of the thousands of Marshall students that recieved an alert late Tuesday night. There had been a sexual assault on 20th street, mere blocks from the football stadium. The assault is still under investigation. Police still do not have a suspect or a usable description of the suspect.
"At night, I don't walk anywhere alone. There's too many sketchy people out here that would take things from me or hurt me," said Marshall student Kristen Young, walking along 20th street to her class.
Huntington Police are adding patrols to the area where the sexual assault happened. In the same area, three men were arrested for committing a pack robbery. Julian Johnson, 25, Antonio Lockhart, 22 and Monroe Avant, 22, were arrested Sunday and charged with armed robbery for a robbery that took place in the same area.
Other students, who frequent the area, say they've armed themselves since moving to Huntington.
"I had my mom buy me pepper spray for Christmas," said Emily Hall. "I have stayed home from class so I don't have to walk through that area."
Huntington Police say they are looking at nearby security cameras to see if it can offer any clues as to the attackers identity.
