The elementary, middle and high schools in Clay County were placed on lockdown Friday.
According to Kenneth Tanner, superintendent for Clay County schools, all three schools were placed on lockdown, but the middle and high school lockdowns have since been lifted earlier in the day.
Tanner says that the lockdown was to prevent an unauthorized sign out of a certain student.
He added that no direct threat was made against the school.
Police responded to the lockdown and surrounded the school. Parents began showing up to the school to remove their children, but were told they couldn't be released due to the lockdown.
No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
