COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A group that promotes Jewish causes says it's pleased Ohio's top education official apologized for an anti-gun-control Facebook posting using a photo of Adolf Hitler.
The Anti-Defamation League was among those who wanted Ohio Board of Education President Debe Terhar (DEH'-bee TAYR'-hahr) to apologize for the posting. She did so Monday.
A Wednesday statement from the Anti-Defamation League's Cleveland regional director says the group accepts the apology and is glad Terhar recognized the posting was offensive and inappropriate.
Terhar's apology satisfied some Board of Education members. Others said the posting compared President Barack Obama to Hitler and that Terhar should resign.
She maintains she wasn't comparing the president to the Nazi leader but acknowledged she made a mistake by sharing a photo of Hitler while criticizing Obama's gun-control efforts.
