A new skate park may soon be coming to Huntington.
City leaders say council allocated $125,000 in funding for the newly proposed park.
They've chosen the far west end of Harris Riverfront park as the best spot for the park due to the large area needed for the project.
Right now they are in the process of choosing an architect for the project and hope to have it built in stages.
Huntington City Development and Planning Director Charles Holley say he hopes this will be something everyone can enjoy.
A city ordinance prohibits skating on sidewalks in the downtown area and poses a $500 fine.
Leaders hope to have the park open by this summer.
