With snow and icy possibly weather approaching our area, West Virginia Highway Safety officials urge drivers to use caution when out on the road.
Highway Safety Director Larry Kendall says people should watch their local news to keep updated on weather conditions before going out to be sure they are informed of driving conditions.
Motorists should check the weather before going out, leave plenty of time to get to their destinations, and drive slowly.
If conditions are so bad that drivers are asked to stay off the road, you shouldn't drive unless its absolutely necessary.
If you have travel, make sure your vehicle has good tires, and check the coolant system and de-icer for the windshield.
When traveling, its also a good idea to have plenty of gas, bring blankets and some food and water in case you break down or get stuck.
