Century Aluminum retirees to rally in front of State Capitol
September 2012 rally
Century Aluminum retirees plan to rally at the State Capitol Tuesday morning.
The rally is scheduled to start at 9:15 a.m.
According to spokesperson Karen Gorrell, the retirees want to personally thank Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, along with state lawmakers, who've supported them during their fight to get their health care benefits back.
Century Aluminum took the retirees health benefits away in 2011.
The company said it would give the retirees their health benefits back, pending the re-opening of its Ravenswood plant, which shut down in 2009.
There have been numerous roadblocks along the way to re-opening the plant.
Gorrell said the retirees are dying without their health benefits.
She said the retirees will pass out flyers personally thanking the Governor and all of the state lawmakers who've been in their corner since the beginning.
