People came from all across the region to see part of the Dick Henderson Memorial Bridge blown up.
Everyone crowded the Saint Albans Roadside Park to see the controlled blast on Friday.
"It was incredible. I wasn't expecting that big of a blast," said Jodi Mondy.
Mondy, like many other parents, brought her son to see the action first-hand.
"We skipped school this morning. He has some things to make up, but we wanted him to see it," she said.
The bridge, built back in the 1930's, has been a staple in the area for decades.
Larry Sullivan said he remembers driving over the bridge when it would shake uncontrollably. He tried to drive over it as quickly as possible when he had to take it.
"I used to fly over it. I'm sorry, I wouldn't do the speed limit," he said.
The Nitro part of the bridge will be blown up on March 8.
