Many people in West Virginia take a great deal of pride in the state's history and their own family's past. In April people in southern West Virginia will have a chance to provide input on how those stories are preserved.
The West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office is planning several meetings across the state. They are hoping to get input from the community on the current preservation efforts and how they can be improved.
It is all part of a larger effort to draft a new historic preservation plan for 2014.
People in Williamson will have a chance to share their thought at a meeting on April 11 in Williamson. The event will be at the Mingo County Courthouse at 6 p.m.
