Huntington Mayor Steve Williams signs ordinance to repeal occupation tax
Huntington's occupation tax has been shot down.
Business leaders joined Mayor Steve Williams on Wednesday as he signed the new ordinance which was passed by city council members on Monday, repealing the occupation tax.
The tax would have taken 1% off the paychecks of anyone that works in Huntington.
Mayor Williams said moves like this will make people want to work in the city. "I believe that Huntington is being innovative and that we are on the cutting edge moving forward and others are following our lead," said Williams.
Williams added that he voted for the tax while on the city council as part of a compromise, but he's glad it was never fully implemented.
