Two Lawrence County, OH men arrested for copper theft

Two Lawrence County, Ohio men are facing felony charges after detectives said they stole thousands of dollars worth of phone wire.
Randy DePriest, Jr., 30, and Brian K. Bloomfield, 34, both of Pedro, are facing felony charges of disrupting public service and 15 counts of tampering with evidence, according to a news release from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.
The alleged wire thefts happened at least 80 times over a nine month period, beginning in June 2012.
The news release also stated DePriest and Bloomfield told detectives they would "enter an area, cut the wire, and then transport it to a location where they would burn the insulation and coating from the copper wire and they would take the copper wire to various scrap yards throughout the tri-state area."
Phone and Internet outages were reported in Upper, Lawrence, Elizabeth and Decatur from a variety of businesses and residents.
DePriest and Bloomfield were taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
