Crews have brush fires in the Clendenin area of Kanawha County under control according to firefighters at the scene. They sparked in the Leatherwood Road area earlier Tuesday evening.
AEP's web site reported 333 customers in Kanawha County without service at 8 p.m.
The AEP web site reports 465 customers without electricity in Kanawha County as of 7:38 p.m. Tuesday. There were no outages according to the site, in Boone County and Wayne County.
The AEP web site reports 1,662 customers without electricity in Kanawha County as of 7:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Strong winds have caused power outages and brush fires to spark across several West Virginia counties.
According to the latest updates on the AEP web site, 2,409 customers were without service in Kanawha County at 6:30 p.m. Other outages were reported in Wayne County, where
129 customers were without electricity. In Boone County, 345 customers were listed without service as of 6:30 p.m.
"Winds today gusted between 35-45 mph across the Tri-State, and while we'll see them dying down tonight, it's going remain windy," said Stormtracker 13 Meteorologist Kristin Ketchell.
Outdoor burning restrictions remain in place. West Virginia's spring forest fire season started March 1 and runs through May 31. During the months of March, April and May, all outdoor burning is prohibited from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
