Neighbors try to save man in Boone County fire

Investigators have released the name of the man who died in a fatal house fire on Spars Creek Road in Boone County.

68-year-old Jerry Dunlap died in the fire.

Dunlap was trapped in his mobile home last night during the fire that started just before 6 p.m.

Neighbors tried to save him but were not successful.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.


Neighbors tried to save a man who was trapped inside his burning home on Monday night, but their efforts were not successful.

The fire was reported about 6 p.m. Monday along Spars Creek Road -- just outside of Madison in Boone County.

Neighbors who tried to go into the burning mobile home to try and save the 65-year-old man who was overtaken by the smoke and flames.

The man's daughter has been notified according to authorities at the scene.  Investigators have not released his name.

No one else was hurt. The man's dog was able to escape the fire which is under investigation.


A person is dead after a fire in Boone County.

The fire started Monday evening at a house just outside of Madison on Spars Creek Road, according to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's office.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's office are en route to the scene. 13News also has a crew on the way to the scene.
