Some children from the Kanawha Valley are dancing through their spring break.
Volunteers are teaching kids to dance, make art play basketball and music this week at the Kanawha City Community Center in Charleston.
Organizers said on Tuesday that the camp is a way for the center to give back to the community and provides a chance for the children to have a good time during their break. The participants said they're happy to take advantage of the opportunity. "We're dancing, having a lot of fun, learning some dancing and just moving around," said AJ Pope of Charleston.
About 70 children are taking part in the week-long camp this year. Organizers said that they hope to increase participation for next year and recruit even more volunteers.
There will be a basketball scrimmage and halftime show on Saturday, April 6. The children will be allowed to showcase the skills they're learned throughout the week.
