UPDATE: Woman was not wearing seat belt in fatal Kanawha County accident

Posted: Updated:

Investigators have released the name of the person killed in an early Thursday morning accident.

Amy D. Toler, 33 of Kanawha County, was killed after she wrecked her mini-van into Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church on Greenbrier Street in Kanawha County.

Church member Barry Lovejoy said this is another tough blow to the church.

"The damage to the church is probably around a couple thousand dollars, I don't know. I have to get someone to look at it."

Lovejoy did not know Toler but said the news of her passing is extremely sad.

"It hurts me. You know, because our pastor we had, he passed away on us, and then this happens to us," he said.

Deputies do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.  They said Toler was not wearing her seatbelt.

Lovejoy said members are trying to figure out how to repair the damages in time for church services this weekend.

One person is dead following a single vehicle accident, according to authorities.

It happened just before 3:30 a.m. at Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church on Greenbrier Street in Kanawha County.

Metro 911 dispatchers tell 13 News the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department and EMS responded to the scene where they found the vehicle inside the church.

The cause of the accident is unknown and is under investigation.

Authorities said Toler was driving north on Greenbrier Street lost control of her car and crashed into the church.  The building currently has a large, gaping hole where the car entered.

There was little impact to local traffic.
