Gregory Melton, an official at the Los Alamos National Laboratory this week has accepted a new job: overseeing the West Virginia Capitol and other state buildings as the new director of the General Services Division.
Administration Secretary Ross Taylor announced Melton's appointment late last month. He began working in his new position on Monday.
Melton, a West Virginia native and a West Virginia University graduate, has been a maintenance manager and group leader at Los Alamos. The New Mexico complex measures 36 square miles. It has more than 1,200 buildings and 8 million square feet of facility space.
General Services oversees the state Capitol and its campus as well as other state government buildings around West Virginia.
Melton, a former Air Force officer, succeeds David Oliverio.
