Asheville blanks Power on Opening Day

The cold, rainy conditions weren't the only factor that halted the Power offense on Thursday.

Asheville's pitching staff combined for nine innings of two-hit ball.

The Tourists' four pitchers struck out 13 and walked just three vs. West Virginia.

Asheville banged out eight hits and three runs, shutting out the Power, 3-0.

Thursday's loss was the fifth straight opening day loss for the Power as an affiliate to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Power's last opening day win came in 2008 when it was an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
