Ashland, KY to host 'Drug Take Back' event as part of national initiative
The Ashland Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will host a Drug Take Back event on April 27, 2013 from 10a.m. to 2 p.m.
Last September, the Ashland Police Department collected approximately 175 pounds of medication. Across the United States, Americans turned in 244 tons-of prescription drugs at more than 5,600 sites operated by the DEA and nearly 4,300 state and local law enforcement partners.
Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained when people dispose unused medicines by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash.
The Ashland Drug Take Back event is part of a nationwide event held, Saturday April 27, 2013.
