Mysterious substance that forced evacuation at Ohio University campus identified
Investigators said Wednesday that the white powder that led to an evacuation at Ohio University in Athens on Monday, turned out to be toothpaste used to seal an envelope.
The university said the envelope contained an application from a prison inmate.
The discovery led Ohio University officials to issue a text alert, evacuate a building on campus and call in authorities from the local, state and federal level. A specialized weapons team from Rickenbacker Air Force Base also responded.
The FBI analyzed the substance to determine what it was.
