The Ohio state Highway Patrol reminds drivers that May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness month.
They say riders should be defensive on the road and watch out for others.
Riders should check lights, belts and tires to make sure they are all working well.
Drivers should also be aware of motorcycles on the road at all times and experts say accidents can happen in seconds.
"A moment's distraction especially if you're on your phone, map, newspaper, makeup, or whatever. Just take a second look, it takes a second and it could save someone's life," Todd Clay said.
Some dealerships offer free riding courses for new those who want to stay safe on the road.
