The Concord University Symphonic Band will have its spring concert on at 7 p.m. May 2 in the main auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center, 1000 Vermillion Street in Athens.
The band will be presenting music reflecting times of war as well as times of peace. Included in the
program are the songs, "Mars" from "The Planets," an arrangement of the hymn "Be Thou My Vision,"
and the world premiere of a piece by sophomore music major Austin Bolden, "Rondo No. 1." Bolden is a Bluefield native and will conduct the piece.
Laura Zamzow is the band director at Concord and will conduct the concert.
"The band has been doing great work this semester and we are excited to share this concert with our
community. There will be a good mix of the exciting and of the reflective," she said.
Admission to the symphonic band spring concert is free.
