George Washington High School students honored for service

Several young men and women who have made a commitment to service after high school were honored on Friday.

Administrators at George Washington High School in Charleston held a ceremony to honor Charles Hageboeck for joining the Merchant Marines. Cadets Lauren Bramble, Michael Sloan and Brandon Wilcher, were also honored. They will serve in the United States Army and National Guard.

We talked to one of the recruits who said he hopes it opens a lot of career doors for him. "It is the best school.  To me, I think it is the school where I will get the best education.  I will get a bachelor of science.  I will receive a U.S. Coast Guard issued license," said Charles Hageboeck, a senior at George Washington High School.

The students will leave for training after they graduate later this month.
