Boyd County, KY man arrested after stabbing in Westwood
The Boyd County Sheriff's Department is investigating a stabbing in Westwood.
Deputies said they received the call at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday. There were reports of several men fighting on Main Street.
Once deputies arrived, they said they found one man who admitted to the fight. The suspect claimed that he stabbed a juvenile in defense. Deputies told 13 News they found the juvenile unarmed, with five stab wounds from a pocket knife. The 16-year-old from Ashland, KY suffered non-life threatening wounds to the chest, shoulder, neck and hand, according to deputies.
The teen was taken to King's Daughter's Medical Center in Ashland initially, but later transferred to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
Deputies arrested Alec Burress, 18, of Westwood, Kentucky with felony assault. He was being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
