Kanawha County deputies have identified several persons of interest in the case of a man found dead in Elkview.
Deputies are not releasing the names of the people they are seeking.
Kanawha County deputies have identified David Lemons, 28, as the man found dead inside a mobile home in Elkview on Monday.
Deputies said a friend had gone to check up on Lemons, who lived at 27 Darlington Lane, just before 2 p.m. Monday. The man saw Lemons' dead body through the window of the mobile home and called 911.
Lemons lived alone in the mobile home and was found alone on Monday afternoon.
"I want to know who did it and why," said Clara Merryman, who knew Lemons. "Why take someone's life? It's a monster. Who can take somebody's life and not go and confess?"
Deputies said they responded to an overdose at Lemon's house on May 10. A woman who injected herself with narcotics in Clendenin had stopped at the mobile home, collapsing on Lemon's front steps. Deputies said Lemons knew the woman or who she was with; officers made no arrests that evening and the woman survived.
Merryman said Lemons was well known in the area.
"He had a lot of friends," Merryman said. "He was a good person, and a lot of people are going to miss him."
Lemons' landlord said he last saw the young man on Saturday. He had attempted to collect rent from Lemons on Sunday, but no one answered the door.
The landlord told 13NEWS he believed Lemons lived a troubled past but was trying to clean up his lifestyle at the time of his death.
Deputies have yet to release Lemons' cause of death or identify any suspects in this homicide investigation.
Members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted with the investigation and will perform an autopsy to determine a cause of death. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office 24-hour line or submit a tip through the website.
