STAR CITY, W.Va. (AP) - People in a small West Virginia town wondered for months about missing 16-year-old honors student Skylar Neese.
She vanished after slipping out the bedroom of her Star City home last summer, but some never believed she'd run away.
The truth emerged when 1 of Neese's friends admitted to plotting with another teenage girl to kill her - a revelation that shocked even police.
The girls had spent time with Neese's mother, searching for someone they apparently knew wouldn't be found.
Sixteen-year-old Rachel Shoaf pleaded guilty to second-degree murder three weeks ago. The other suspect remains unidentified.
But investigators have said little since their arrests. So people are left to wonder: How could anyone so young plot to kill a classmate and friend?
Court documents offer no insight into the motive.
