The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down Sunday, June 9, near Lowmansville in Lawrence County, Kentucky.
Preliminary reports indicate the twister was touched down at 5:55 p.m. It was rated as an EF0 with maximum wind speeds of 75 mph. According to the National Weather Service, the tornado was about 50 yds wide and was on the ground for about a half-mile. The damage path was spread out over a two-mile area, according to the preliminary NWS report.
Severe storms also swept through Kentucky on Monday, June 10. State emergency management officials said four people have been injured and several homes have been damaged in the south-central part if the state.
Department of Emergency Management spokesman Buddy Rogers said no life-threatening injuries were reported.
