Carter County business owners watching for flood waters
Business owners in Carter county, KY are keeping a close watch on the weather.
Workers at the J. F. Lewis furniture store in Carter City say they've had their share of wet weather and flooding over the years.
They say creeks went over their banks last year leaving over an inch of water and mud inside the store.
The flooding caused floor boards in the showroom to warp and left a mess to clean up.
They say the area is prone to heavy flooding and they're keeping a close watch on the weather.
"Its like a wet season we have difficulty with the water getting up. Supposedly there's a bad storm coming in so we're going to keep our eye on the news and might have to get up two or three o'clock in the morning," store co-owner Jeffrey Lewis said.
Lewis says the store has had flood waters as high as the ceiling many years ago.
