The American Red Cross said its work is just beginning in Roane County, WV.
On Friday, volunteers made breakfast, lunch and dinner for anyone who needed a bite to eat.
The shelter is set up inside the National Guard Armory in Spencer.
Flood victims can also pick up donated food items and cleaning supplies at the shelter.
Volunteers said people in the community have really come forward to help each other out.
"Without the help of the community, it would not run that smoothly," said Clemencia Mccready, American Red Cross Shelter Manager.
Mccready said the shelter will stay open as long as necessary.
