The next chapter in the journey of Paul Holley begins as he returned home today.
Paul, a sophomore at Hannan High School, was driving home in February when he lost control of his car and crashed. That crash left him paralyzed and his family, searching for ways to aid his recovery.
After months at a Chicago hospital, Paul was met by a crowd of supporters at Yeager Airport as he returned home today.
Paul and his mother were greeted by the roar of a motorcycle motorcade, applause, signs and streams of happy tears.
Paul Holley's mother, April Vickers has been by his side every day since an car accident on February 27th rendered him paralyzed.
"After he was turned down by every other rehabilitation center," Vickers shares, "I found them."
Them, the Shriners Hospital for Children, which has been helping rehabilitate Paul and also footing the bill for Paul's treatment.
"There's no billing departments in our hospitals," Martin Castleberry with the Beni Keden Shriners said. "We take care of everything."
Now Paul, a star athlete at Hannan High School, is rebounding and beginning his journey anew.
"All kinds of different sports you can play, wheelchair basketball and rugby," Paul said.
Paul's younger brother "Bubby" is one part of his support team.
"If he has something that he can't do at home or something that he used to, I'll help him do that," "Bubby said.
After being sidelined for months and now eager to rejoin the game, this West Virginia native is sure that a life, both wild and wonderful awaits.
"I just went scuba diving for the first time," Paul said. "It was awesome."
