A woman's body found in Wheelersburg Monday has been identified.
According to a news release from Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini, Jennifer Sue Shepherd's body was found in Pine Creek. She was 34-years-old and was from Franklin Furnace, Ohio.
Shepherd was last seen by her friend at 10:15 p.m., Saturday, June 15, in Portsmouth near Murrays Pub and the Fast Stop convenient store. Investigators used fingerprints and tattoo identification to figure out who she is.
An autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death. Anyone with information on this case is being asked to contact Det. Jodi Conkel at 740-354-7566.
A woman's body is being examined by a coroner after being found in a creek in Scioto County. Sheriff Marty V. Donini says in a news release, a 40 to 50-year-old woman with shoulder length blonde hair was found in Pine Creek off the Ohio River in Wheelersburg Monday just after 3 p.m.
The release says the woman's body was discovered by two people walking for help after their car had broken down on US Highway 52 near State Route 522. The woman has identifiable tattoos, but the sheriff is not releasing those at this time. They say the woman is 5'8" and weighs approximately 130 pounds.
The sheriff says the woman's body may have been recovered in Pine Creek due to the recent high water on the Ohio River.
If anybody has any information on the identity of this female or any information on this case should contact the Scioto County Sheriff. The release added this is not the body of reported missing mother Megan Lancaster who has been missing since April 3.
