Violent man arrested after massive manhunt in Jackson County

A man who assaulted a West Virginia State Trooper and escaped custody is behind bars.
Joseph Lee Myers, 23, is facing a slew of felony charges after he lead authorities on a massive manhunt.
Troopers tell 13 News it started when they arrested Myers near the Jackson County Courthouse Thursday afternoon. They said Myers was arguing with a woman and got physical when a trooper tried to break it up.
When Myers was at the detachment, he become violent again and managed to escape from custody.
Multiple law enforcement agencies spent hours searching for Myers by helicopter and ground.
They caught up with him near the Ripley exit Thursday night.
Myers has been charged with multiple felonies including domestic battery, obstruction, fleeing, and obstructing an officer.
The trooper who was assaulted was taken to the hospital for treatment but is expected to be okay. He suffered injuries to his face.
Myers will be arraigned by a magistrate judge later this morning.
