The City of Charleston has scheduled its "Celebrate Independence" 5K race to benefit the Childhood Language Center of Charleston.
The event takes place Friday, July 5 at 7:45 p.m. at Haddad Riverfront Park.
The Childhood Language Center was founded in 1990 and offers free speech and language therapy clinic for children.
Registration is $20 before June 30 and $25 the day of the race.
Participants are asked to register at 6 p.m. and prizes will be awarded after the race.

Musical acts will be performing prior to the race for Live on the Levee featuring "The Boatmen" and "The Recipe" starting at 6 p.m.
