Two people arrested in connection to theft of scrap aluminum
Athens County, Ohio Sheriff deputies were called to Kal Electric on Habbardsville Road in Athens after an employee of Smith Concrete observed two males stealing wiring.
According to a press release, approximately $3,000 of scrap aluminum and electrical wiring had been taken from a building.
During a search of the area, deputies located a older model tan Chevy truck that was occupied by two males.
Brandon Masters, 19, of Millfield and Jerry Smith, 30, of Chauncy were arrested, charged with breaking and entering and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
Master previously had been identified in the theft of scrap metal at Cochran's along Route 33 in which a Athens County Sheriff was injured, Master also admitted to deputies they did illegally obtain the scrap wire from Kal Electric.
Smith also has a warrant that was issued Friday in connection with a purse snatching along Route 13 in Chauncy.
