Cabell county school board members discussed a program that will help bring locally-grown fruits and vegetables to school cafeterias.
During Tuesday night's meeting they talked about working with local farmers to get the food to students.
Local crops are purchased from farmers and students in a move to get fresh food to the table to help students eat healthier meals.
Board members say food is also grown by agriculture students at local high schools.
"Its a better quality I think is the most important thing, and then we're paying the same price as we would on the open market," board member Mike O'Dell said.
Board members say farmers have been working since spring to get the crops to school lunch tables for the next school semester.
